Question: We know my mother needs assisted living but it seems very expensive and I know we won’t be able to swing it with our savings and hers alone. Are there other options for how to pay for it?
Answer: From George – Many times living in an assisted living community can cost less than living in one’s own home. When you factor in all the costs of maintenance, not to mention the meals, activities, entertainment, and educational opportunities that are included with assisted living, it can make even more sense financially. The government’s Veterans Benefits do offer help for those who qualify, and there are many loan programs available for seniors and families. Senior Housing Net does a great job of explaining the different senior living financing options.
